The State Security Service of Georgia issued a statement ten days before the parliamentary elections, claiming that there are plans to organise a provocation aimed at causing a confrontation between the branches of government, escalating tensions between the government and the Orthodox Church, deteriorating relations with Western partners, and artificially creating a charged atmosphere for protests.

"As per the information received, groups connected to political circles are planning to distribute falsified video and audio recordings created using artificial intelligence and other modern technologies in the days leading up to the upcoming parliamentary elections in Georgia," reads the statement from the State Security Service (SSS).
According to the agency, the fake recordings will be presented to the public as leaked information from the State Security Service, using the voices and video images of government representatives.
"The purpose of disseminating this false information is to provoke conflict between the branches of government, escalate tensions between the government and the Orthodox Church, and worsen relations with the government’s Western partners.
The individuals disseminating the falsified materials present these fake recordings as information leaked from the State Security Service, intending to discredit the agency on one hand and create dissonance between the branches of government on the other.
The main goal of this provocation is to artificially create and stir up protest sentiment, generating points of destabilisation in the country, which will ultimately be exploited for political purposes.
"We are carefully monitoring the activities of these groups, and in the event of any violation of the law, appropriate measures will be taken by the law," stated the SSS.
The State Security Service does not specify which groups connected to which political circles are preparing the "provocation."
