19 Arrested by Ministry of Internal Affairs on Drug Crime

The Central Criminal Police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, in collaboration with the Patrol Police and the General Prosecutor's Office, has arrested 19 individuals on charges of drug-related offenses. As per the Ministry of Internal Affairs, those detained include both Georgian and foreign nationals.

Six individuals are charged with the production, attempt to produce, and preparation of keys for large and particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs. Thirteen others are accused of the illegal purchase and storage of large and especially large amounts of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, and marijuana, as well as the illegal planting and cultivation of plants containing narcotic drugs.

The following individuals are arrested on charges related to the production, attempt to produce, and preparation of keys for large and particularly large quantities of narcotic drugs: T.A., born in 1991; G.G., born in 1964; M.J., born in 1983, who have previous convictions; and K.K., born in 1975, as well as foreign nationals Sh.E., born in 1997, and I.Sh., born in 1989, according to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, during searches of the personal and residential properties of those arrested, as well as locations specified by them, a substantial quantity of narcotic drugs was recovered, including heroin, cocaine, MDMA, pregabalin, methadone, alpha-PVP, buprenorphine, methamphetamine, marijuana, and Lyrica.

Additionally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that money obtained from drug sales, adhesive tapes, and electric scales were allegedly seized by the police as evidence.

The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, 261, 265, 18-260, 19-260, and 273 of the Criminal Code. The crimes are punishable by up to 20 years or life imprisonment.
