"You are creating an alternative reality, and with this alternative reality, you are trying to deceive your own people," opposition MP Teona Akubardia addressed the members of the majority at the plenary session of the Parliament. Before that, the chairman of the Committee for Integration with Europe, Maka Bochorishvili, said that question marks regarding the country's course are out of place, and Georgia's partners need to stand by instead of dumbing down and threatening.

Akubardia stated that the EU's highest representative for foreign affairs and security policy, Josep Borrell, told the members of the ruling Georgian Dream once again yesterday that they are deceiving people, as if they are leading the country to Europe.
"They openly told you that you separated Georgia from Europe. They openly told you that the money allocated for the support of the Georgian people will be in danger, if we leave aside the personal sanctions and what can happen after October.
Now that you are talking here, questions about the course of Georgia are out of place, there are no more questions about the course of Georgia. It is already an adequate perception, and they directly tell you to separate Georgia from the European Union. Therefore, when Josep Borrell openly tells you that higher-ups are spreading disinformation, this is all a diagnosis, and no matter how different reality you create, it does not change anything, except that you all, together with Ivanishvili, are responsible for rejecting the civilizational choice of this country. You are telling lies to the Georgian people.
When you speak, Georgia's reputation is damaged, and the West spreads disinformation, and you are the main disinformers. While you talk about bullying and threatening your partners, your partners don't bother you; they tell you that the door is open for Georgia, but not for you - you are already condemned, and the others are insulted by what people call you.
When you talk about the threat of partners, this threat is not the reality that you want to change and blame the West for turning the country's course towards Russia. It was you who put the help of this country, which depended on the help of America and the European Union, its sovereignty, and freedom, in danger. If this country had the support and protection of its sovereignty, it had from America and the European Union. If the Russian occupiers kidnap and kill our citizens, we again ask the West to make an assessment and help us. You accuse the West of wanting to get involved in the war; you call it a liar and unfair," Akubardia said.
Teona Akubardia also touched on the issue of support for the Georgian army and noted that this year, the European Union's €33 million in funding may be frozen.
"I am interested in the story of the Georgian army, the army that the whole country is proud of and has the most trust in. What do you say to the soldiers? Mr. Shalva [Papuashvili], if you had gone to the army, wearing a military shirt in the style of Zelensky, what would you say to your army? What did you do here to make it so that American funding for the Georgian army will be frozen, the EU's €33 million funding could be frozen this year, and nobody knows what will happen? In this situation, will our defense capabilities fulfill the tasks of deterrence and defense? I am very interested in what you will say to the army. In this situation, so many lies, so much misinformation, enmity, and betrayal of the country are not normal. The Georgian people will give an answer to this in October," said Akubardia.
Yesterday, in Luxembourg, at the meeting of the Council of Foreign Affairs, which was chaired by the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, Georgia was one of the main issues discussed. After the meeting of foreign ministers of 27 countries, Borrell clearly said that the Russian law on so-called foreign agents separates Georgia from the European Union, and if the government does not change its course of action, the country will not be able to move forward on the path to the European Union. Borrell also spoke about the possible measures and noted that the European Union will reduce political contacts with Georgia, consider suspending financial aid to the government, and review the support of the European peace mechanism.
