Mariam Jashi, a Member of Parliament in the ninth convocation and a former deputy of Georgian Dream, has stated that questioning the goal of European integration, including any delays in its pursuit, constitutes an act against the constitution and the strategic interests of the country.

Mariam Jashi, in a statement published on Facebook, emphasizes that the true solution to the current situation in the country lies in holding early, fair parliamentary elections.
"In November 2019, exactly five years ago, I resigned as Chairperson of the Parliamentary Committee of Georgia as soon as the first signs of disregarding the positions of the country's strategic partners - the European Union and the United States - became apparent. This was further compounded when Georgian Dream demonstratively abandoned electoral constitutional reform.
Naturally, my position remains unchanged, and I will always be proud of voting, as a member of the 9th convocation of Parliament, to include Article 78 in the Constitution of Georgia, affirming the country's unwavering commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic integration.
I believe it is important for society to know that Giorgi Kvirikashvili, the former Prime Minister of Georgia, played a pivotal role in the adoption of Article 78.
Today, any act of questioning this historic objective, including postponing its realization, constitutes an attack on the constitution and the country's strategic interests.
The current events on Rustaveli Avenue, and not only in Tbilisi but across the nation, are the direct result of the government's mistakes over the past few years, for which it bears primary responsibility.
It is a wonderful concept that 'politics replaces wars.' However, I firmly believe that the restoration of our territorial integrity with Russia cannot be achieved through military means. While efforts to avoid military escalation with Russia are essential, the government has failed to prevent another equally dangerous threat - public confrontation.
Today, our people are divided, and this conflict must be resolved as soon as possible!
The true solution to the current crisis is not a revolution but the initiation of early, fair elections through negotiations involving Georgian and foreign politicians as well as the diplomatic corps.
In this context, the Permanent Mission of the United Nations or a Special Envoy appointed by the UN Secretary-General during crises can serve as impartial mediators, despite their politically neutral mandates.
Furthermore, the Patriarchate of Georgia can play a significant role in both halting the conflict and fostering future mediation efforts.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to people of all generations, especially young individuals and journalists, as well as my friends, colleagues, and politicians - regardless of their differing viewpoints - who are sincerely working to safeguard Georgia's alternative future," writes Mariam Jashi.
On November 28, the illegitimate Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that Georgia would not prioritize the opening of accession negotiations until the end of 2028 and would reject EU budget grants. This decision by the illegitimate government sparked protests in Tbilisi and other regions.
