The presentation of the platform was held on July 8 at the United National Movement congress. The congress approved Tina Bokuchava as the chairman of the party.
"Ivanishvili turned the October 26 elections into a referendum - a referendum between Russian darkness and a successful European future. At such an important crossroads for our country, more than ever, I believe that today is the time for unity. There is no time to split into different wings. This is not the time for mutual criticism. This is not the time to wrestle with ambitions or egos. Today is the time for unity, unity for Georgia, unity for victory, unity for Europe, unity for saving the country. Together, we can do everything. Together, we can do the impossible.
If other parties cannot unite at this stage, let us unite with politicians, socially active individuals, civil organizations, and most importantly, let us unite with young people who have shown us the power of unity best," said Bokuchava.
Lasha Bakradze, the director of the State Museum of Literature says that he joined a group of people who want not only the defeat of one coalition but the victory of the Georgian people in the "great battle."
"We have one big goal: to save our homeland from the monster that will lead this country to the abyss. There is only one way for this - a great national, unified effort to make Georgia a part of the unity of diverse, free nations.
Our goal is to build a country in which all people, even those who perceive us as enemies today, will live happily, where people will find justice, where there will be social justice, accessible healthcare, education, and equality, where no one will be persecuted for a different opinion," Bakradze said at the platform presentation.
Political scientist Gia Japaridze, who is the brother of Zurab Japaridze, the leader of the Girchi - More Freedom party, said that "unity will save us at this historical crossroads." He called for unity among civil society, youth, and political parties.
"I decided to take this step because there is no alternative to unity. Unity will save us at this crossroads. We need to be organized because being organized wins elections. This election will not be an ordinary election. These elections decide whether Georgia will remain a free country or not. At such a historic moment, we should all come together. We unite because all the citizens of Georgia win. Our victory will not be defeating anyone; it will be the victory of Georgia as a whole," Japaridze said.
Tamar Kordzaia told TV Pirveli that when "the fate of the country is at stake," it is necessary to make "very tough and bold" decisions.
"The refusal to unite today creates a risk for our country and its future... Mr. Armaz and I have shown that we can cooperate if there is a common and great goal for this country. Today, I voiced my belief that as we have shown unity, other parties will also show it, and then we will have an agreement on a coalition government in the parliament," said Kordzaia.
Tbilisi City Council member Sopho Japaridze from the National Movement, civil activist Ana Mosashvili, Irakli Pavlenishvili, a member of the National Movement, Giorgi Vashadze, leader of Strategy Agmashenebeli, and Lasha Diarovi, a member of the same party, also participated in the presentation of the new political platform.
Unity will participate in the parliamentary elections of October 26 with the election number of United National Movement - 5.
