"I want to congratulate all of Georgia on this happy day. Today, I did not vote for 'who’ but, this time, for 'what.' I voted for the new Georgia, the very reason I came to this country 22 years ago. I voted for the Georgia that all my ancestors prayed for and that, I am sure, all of Georgia continues to pray for. By tonight, we will all be winners, and there will be no losers because Georgia will have won," said the president.
Today, October 26, parliamentary elections are being held in Georgia, with voters choosing 150 members of the Parliament of Georgia based on the proportional electoral system. 18 political parties are participating, and seats in Parliament will be distributed among those parties that secure at least 5% of the total valid votes cast.
Polling stations opened at 8:00 a.m., and voting will continue until 8:00 p.m. The total number of registered voters is 3 508 294, with approximately 90% expected to vote via electronic devices installed at polling stations.
