The confirmation of the presence of explosive substances aboard the Wizz Air plane has not been substantiated, as indicated by Irakli Karkashadze, General Director of the Union of Georgian Airports. Consequently, the Kutaisi-Barcelona flight is scheduled to proceed today at 19:00.

“Relevant authorities are conducting necessary procedures and will issue a statement accordingly. However, based on available information, the presence of explosive substances has not been confirmed at this juncture. Passenger screenings have been completed, and individuals are currently situated in the departure lounge. Operations at Kutaisi International Airport have returned to normalcy, and flight arrivals and departures continue as scheduled,” stated Karkashadze.
Earlier today, at 12:45, the Wizz Air flight bound for Barcelona departed but returned to Kutaisi International Airport approximately 10 minutes later. The decision to return was made following reports suggesting the potential presence of explosives on board. The aircraft accommodated 148 passengers and 6 crew members.
The incident led to a temporary disruption in operations of Kutaisi Airport.
