According to Wilson, U.S. Treasury Should Investigate Taliashvili’s Husband’s Activities in Russia

Republican Congressman Joe Wilson believes that the Treasury Department should investigate Tamar Taliashvili’s husband, the spouse of the ambassador appointed by Georgian Dream in the U.S.

“It is outrageous that the husband of the GD regime appointed ambassador to U.S. is reportedly helping Russia to evade U.S. sanctions meant to cripple Putin’s war machine. US Treasury should look into this, and I look forward to following up”, stated Joe Wilson on X platform.

The congressman shared OC Media’s article, which claims that Tamar Taliashvili’s husband, Davit Kukhalashvili, owns a law firm in Moscow and is helping Russian companies that are sanctioned by the EU and the U.S.

DTK Partners was created in 2014 and is owned by Russian and Georgian citizen David Kukhalashvili. OC Media mentions that Kukhalashvili founded DTK Partners and remained its owner as of 2025. His profile has been removed from the company's website; however, archived versions list him as the managing director until 17 July.

DTK Partners helps clients access assets frozen in Western jurisdictions. An OC Media article states that archived versions of the site show that Kukhalashvili himself had prepared applications to EU and U.S. authorities on behalf of clients, including the US-sanctioned SPB Bank and the EU-sanctioned National Settlement Depository (NSD).

The Georgian Dream Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not issued any comment on this.

Tamar Taliashvili has served as Georgia's Ambassador to the United States since July 2025. Prior to that, she spent three years as Georgia's Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.

Before being appointed as Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe, in property declarations filed as a member of parliament, she indicated that her husband had hundreds of thousands of dollars in deposits in Russia. These included deposits in Alfa Bank and Rosbank. Additionally, Kukhalashvili owned an apartment in Moscow, purchased in 2011 for 12,500,000 rubles. These records do not appear in the latest property declaration submitted by Taliashvili.
