"The party has decided that participation in local elections is unjustified. We will not allow the country's interim administration, which refers to itself as the government, to claim to the international community that it conducted fair elections.
In parallel with this, we do not believe that local elections constitute any form of struggle, as they lack competitive conditions. On this side, we are sincere, struggling, uncompromising people. On the other side, there is oppression, repression, a judicial clan that justifies all this, and on which the Georgian Dream government stands.
Under these conditions, I do not consider it justified to lead my supporters and voters to sacrifice.
At the same time, the For the People party has decided that we are not joining the boycott. Given the apathetic mood in the country, we believe that it is wrong to spend time and resources going from village to village, city to city, and urging people not to do something," Dolidze said.
According to her, the main goal today should be the release of political prisoners and the holding of new, fair parliamentary elections.
"Before October 4, we face the most important task: to protect the rights of Georgian citizens to work, security, education, healthcare, and recreation in our partner space, in our future home, the European Union. Visa-free travel is ours, and it belongs solely to the Georgian people. We will fully dedicate our efforts to preserving visa-free travel and ensuring that sanctions are applied personally to those corrupt, power-intoxicated individuals who represent Georgia's temporary government," Dolidze noted.
8 parties are boycotting the local elections:
- Ahali
- Girchi–More Freedom
- Droa
- Federalists
- United National Movement
- Strategy Aghmashenebeli
- European Georgia
- Freedom Square
The coalition Strong Georgia and the Gakharia–For Georgia party are not boycotting the elections. These two political entities have also signed a memorandum on Mutual Cooperation in Elections.
