Adgur Ardzinba, one of the leaders of the "People's Movement of Abkhazia" and the opposition, claimed that Aslan Bzhania, who had held the position of so-called president since 2020, had been secretly bringing Georgian deputies to Abkhazia. He resigned due to protests a few days ago.

"We are aware of the danger of the Georgian oligarchy infiltrating us. Considering that Mr. Bzhania secretly brought some Georgian MPs to Abkhazia and, according to our information, had active relations with representatives of the Georgian diaspora in Russia," Ardzinba said in an interview with Russian media.
He was also asked for his opinion on reconciliation with Tbilisi, which has recently sent such signals.
"The signals are positive and welcome, but we must assess the situation. We remember that the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, spoke about the possibility of reconciliation just months before attempting to resolve the problem in South Ossetia by force.
The Georgian Dream has been in power for quite a long time, since 2012, but no real steps have been taken to fundamentally regulate relations.
There is a so-called 'Occupied Territories' law that creates serious difficulties for foreign investment, foreign economic relations, and normal business operations in our country. We could start, for example, by repealing this law.
Georgia has not imposed sanctions against Russia, though they remain tight-lipped about it. However, recent history shows that its leadership is capable of quite dramatic political maneuvers. Let us remind you that even under Georgian Dream, the official course of Tbilisi, still enshrined in the Constitution of Georgia, is towards European and North Atlantic integration.
We, our people, Georgia, and Abkhazia have been neighbors for hundreds of years - believe me, we know what we are talking about. However, our position is clear: we are an independent state. Any step toward reconciliation and normalization of relations must start with this simple step - recognition of the historical and actual reality," said the leader of the so-called opposition in Abkhazia.
Adgur Ardzinba is the former de facto Vice President and Minister of Economy of occupied Abkhazia. In 2020, he ran in the so-called presidential elections and was the main competitor of Aslan Bzhania. It is possible that Ardzinba will take part in the upcoming so-called early presidential elections, which will be held in the coming months due to Bzhania's resignation.
