As per the decree, state protection was assigned to the Chairman of the CEC "in connection with the upcoming parliamentary elections, until the necessary conditions are met due to the relevant preconditions during the current year." The implementation of protective measures was entrusted to the Special State Protection Service.
The Chairman of the Central Election Commission is not typically included in the list of individuals protected by the Special State Protection Service. However, according to a 2020 Government Decree, state protection can be assigned to the head of a state agency, as well as their family members, if sufficient data or information from relevant services indicates that their life or health is in danger.
The CEC notes that this is a pre-election practice, and protection has been assigned to all previous CEC chairpersons.
