Estonia Sanctions 19 More Georgian Citizens

Estonia has added 19 more Georgian citizens to its sanctions list. Based on an order from Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, members of the Georgian Dream parliament, the Minister of Justice, the Prosecutor General, as well as judges and prosecutors involved in cases of arrests during pro-European protests and the Mzia Amaglobeli case, are now banned from entering Estonia.

“These individuals are directly or indirectly responsible for the persecution of peaceful protesters, journalists, and opposition representatives. The violence used by Georgian authorities, politicized court proceedings, and disproportionate punishments against protesters and opposition politicians are in contradiction with the core values of democracy and the conditions associated with Georgia’s EU candidate status,” stated the Estonian Foreign Minister.
