‘’Everyone concerned should forget about dreams of my deposal. I am where I am, and I will go everywhere I need to be as a president because this is my highest constitutional obligation. I protect the Constitution as per the oath I took when I was inaugurated as the President of Georgia. I will stand by this oath until the end,’’ – the president of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, said in a televised address that she went to Berlin, Brussels, and Paris, to meet with the leaders of European countries, with her own finances, which is ‘’not right for the state.’’

According to the president, she is met with respect, because she represents the people who have clearly shown how important the European prospect is to them.
‘’I am taking advantage of my connections, the trust, which stems from your actions. If you hadn’t rose up and shown the entire Europe how important the European perspective is to you, I wouldn’t enjoy such trust when meeting European leaders.
They know I represent your views and you chose the European future. That’s why they are greeting me with such respect. This is not my merit, it’s yours, and I am proud to represent you in different capitals of Europe. I am proud to be doing this with my own funds, but it is not right for the state that the president travels to meetings using her own funds… I will keep going regardless. I have plans for future visits’’ - said the president.
According to the president, ‘’Georgia will never return under the foot of Russia.’’
‘’This is the choice we have to protect together. We, rather you, defended this choice on March 8 and I supported you. This will be our constant march until we push through and Georgia assumes its rightful place. I know and I am sure that we are all in this together and that the government will have to deal with it because its future also depends on it,’’ said Salome Zourabichvili.
On September 1, news broke that Georgian Dream initiated the impeachment procedure of the President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili. The ruling party accuses the president of flagrant violation of the constitution, as despite the government's refusal, she started meetings with European leaders. According to the president, she is meeting with European leaders in support of granting Georgia the status of a candidate country for EU membership, while Georgian Dream considers Zourabichvili's meetings to be detrimental to the goal of Georgia's European integration.
On August 30, the Georgian government issued a statement, according to which the president was denied visits to Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Switzerland, Belgium, Denmark, the Arab Emirates, Israel, Bulgaria, and the Czech Republic, because the implementation of the country's foreign policy is the exclusive privilege of the Georgian government.
The President of the European Council, Charles Michel, said on September 1 that he welcomes President Zourabichvili's aspiration on the path of the European Union. Before the meeting with Michel, the President of Georgia met with the President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier on August 31.
The signature of at least 50 deputies is required to file a constitutional lawsuit. The parliamentary majority has 84 deputies. The Constitutional Court has a one-month deadline to reach the verdict, and after the ruling, 100 deputies' votes are needed to unseat the president, which Georgian Dream does not have. The part of the parliamentary opposition considers the initiation of the impeachment procedure of the president as an obstacle to the country's European integration and sabotage.
