According to information released by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, on July 7, "Tornike Rizhvadze was admitted to Sagarejo GeoHospitals with a gunshot wound to the chest."
"Tornike Rizhvadze received emergency medical care. Doctors explain that his lung is damaged, and his health condition is critical but stable," the Ministry of Internal Affairs stated.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that one person has been arrested on charges of negligent storage of a firearm. The agency confirms that the arrested individual is Aleksi Akhvlediani, Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development.
Tornike Rizhvadze resigned as Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara in early April. "I have held this position for seven years. It's time for something new," he wrote in a statement published on social media.
