Giorgi Roinishvili, Deputy Commander of Special Unit Tbilisi, Killed in Kursk Region

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

Giorgi Roinishvili, a fighter supporting Ukraine, was killed in the Kursk region of Russia. He served as the deputy commander of the special unit Tbilisi, alongside Gocha Khorava.

"Giorgi Roinishvili, deputy commander of the Tbilisi unit, was heroically killed in battle in the Kursk region, on enemy territory. Three comrades were wounded. Our condolences go to the family of our fallen brother. Glory to the heroes! Glory to Georgia! Glory to Ukraine!" stated the special forces in a release today, September 17.

The Ukrainian armed forces launched an attack on the Kursk region of the Russian Federation on August 6 and, within a month, gained control over more than a hundred settlements, covering an area of approximately 1,200 square kilometres. As President Volodymyr Zelensky stated, these actions aim to create a buffer zone to prevent Russian military operations against Ukraine. The Russian army launched a counterattack in the Kursk region on September 9. According to the Ministry of Defense, control has been "restored" over dozens of settlements.
