"Due to the complete breach of electoral secrecy, new elections must be held, and the CEC should be given a one-week deadline to meet this demand. We urge our Western partners not to recognize the results of these elections.
Join us at the rally in front of Parliament on Saturday at 19:00. Support our cause and join our movement so that, instead of a false revolution, we can continue our fight for new elections!" reads a statement from Girchi.
In the parliamentary elections on October 26, Girchi received 2.9% of the votes (62 223 voters) as per data from the Central Election Commission, failing to meet the 5% electoral threshold.
According to the CEC, 53.93% of voters (1 120 011 voters) cast their ballots for Georgian Dream. However, opposition parties that crossed the threshold do not recognize the legitimacy of this result. The votes were distributed as follows:
- Coalition for Change (11.037%)
- Unity - National Movement (10.164%)
- Strong Georgia (8.814%)
- Gakharia for Georgia (7.771%)
President Salome Zourabichvili also stated that the elections were "completely falsified" and that Georgia has become "a Russian special operation."
