"Less than five months remain until the local government elections. We have already started preparations for the elections. In a few weeks, we will officially launch the election campaign. The party will be fully mobilized for its 10th-anniversary victory. With the support of the Georgian people, we will win the mayoral and city council elections in all 64 municipalities, so that development does not stop for a single day in any municipality, and to fully protect the interests of every region and every corner of Georgia," stated the Georgian Dream Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, at the party congress held on May 7, where he was elected as the party chairman.

Kobakhidze reiterated that after the elections, they will appeal to the Constitutional Court to declare certain political parties unconstitutional.
"Removing radicals from politics is our stated goal. We will initiate this legal process, and we hope the Constitutional Court will agree with our legal reasoning," he said.
The Georgian Dream also elected a new Political Council at the congress with the following members: Bidzina Ivanishvili; Irakli Kobakhidze; Kakha Kaladze; Shalva Papuashvili; Mamuka Mdinaradze; Giorgi Volski; Tea Tsulukiani; Vakhtang Gomelauri; Irakli Chikovani; Maka Bochorishvili; Nikoloz Samkharadze; Mariam Kvrivishvili; Dimitri Samkharadze; Sulkhan Tamazashvili; Nino Tsilozani.
Irakli Garibashvili, the former chairman of Georgian Dream, announced his resignation and exit from politics on April 25.
"I no longer see the need to remain as party chair or in politics in general. Therefore, I have decided to leave the position of the Chair of the Georgian Dream and exit from politics. I will continue to serve my country from a different position," Garibashvili stated.
He has not been sanctioned by any country yet.
Local government elections in Georgia are scheduled for October 4, 2025.
