The GEL depreciated by 6.19 tetri against the euro, with the value of 1 euro reaching 2.9967 GEL. The exchange rate in effect today was 2.9348 GEL.
In commercial banks, 1 US dollar costs 2.95 GEL, and 1 euro costs 3.11 GEL.
As a result of today's trading, the GEL depreciated against all 43 currencies on the market.
The sharp depreciation of the GEL follows the decision of the illegitimate government of Georgia to suspend its integration process into the European Union, which led to mass protests in Tbilisi and the suspension of the strategic partnership with Georgia by the United States
