“I have included 55 Georgian citizens on Latvia’s persona non grata list, imposing a ban on their entry into Latvia. This decision was made under Section 61(2) of the Immigration Law,” writes the Latvian Foreign Minister.
Baiba Braže's decision precedes a meeting of European Union member states' foreign ministers. Tomorrow, July 15, a Foreign Affairs Council meeting will be held in Brussels, where, among other issues, the situation in Georgia will be discussed. Foreign ministers will consider possible measures in response to the Georgian Dream’s increasing repressions.
Since December 2024, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia have imposed visa restrictions on dozens of Georgian citizens. Among those sanctioned are leaders of Georgian Dream, members of the illegitimate parliament, judges, prosecutors, and police officers.
The Latvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not publish the list of sanctioned individuals this time either.
