A video published by SPIEGEL on August 3 showcases the workday of the staff at Davidwache, the smallest police station in Europe, located in the St. Pauli district. The video includes a scene on Reeperbahn Street, where tourists are seen arguing with law enforcement officers.
"Guys, we are tourists, students... the Parliament, the Georgian Parliament," says Beka Odisharia's 22-year-old son, Lasha Odisharia, as he shows his ID to the police.
This part of the video concerns stolen goods and their alleged buyers - a group of young people from Georgia who were stopped by the police for inspection. Lasha Odisharia stands out for his active involvement during the encounter.
"You guys want problems or what? We were just walking, and you grabbed my friend's hand. I'm calling my advocate. I'm telling you, we are not ordinary tourists. Now you're in problem," the Georgian MP's son says to a law enforcement officer dressed in civilian clothes but wearing a police armband.
Uniformed police officers are also seen in the video. Lasha Odisharia refuses to hand over his ID to them. "How do I know you won’t take it? I can show it to you, but I will not give it to you. I know the German rules - I’ll show it, but I won’t give it to you," he tells one of the officers.
According to the policeman, despite the objection, they eventually obtained the necessary information.
Later in the video, police are seen arresting two suspects and seizing allegedly counterfeit perfume, Apple Watches, and other electronic devices.
Beka Odisharia's wife, Makuna Gamtsemlidze, confirmed to Studio Monitori that it is indeed their son in the video.
"They have a student residence permit. He mentions the foreign ministry, the consulate - any authority he can remember – just to emphasize that these kids were simply walking down the street when they were frightened, stopped by the police, and arrested. ... He shows his ID to prove that he’s not an ordinary tourist. ... Our son is currently alone in Riga, studying. He’s an excellent student. ... If you try to piss him off less, it would be a favor to me," the MP's wife told Monitori.
Businessman and millionaire Beka Odisharia has been an MP since 2016, representing Georgian Dream in parliament. However, he is not on the ruling party’s electoral list for the October 26, 2024 parliamentary elections. Nevertheless, according to Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of Georgian Dream, consultations are ongoing with Odisharia, and he may be appointed to a position.
