"They spread lies, claiming that the list will be closed and the parliament will be rendered illegitimate. However, it would still be entirely legitimate. The parliament convenes and confirms the authority of 150 deputies with 76 votes... a majority is formed, and the citizens of Georgia have established a parliamentary majority," said Shalva Papuashvili, Chairman of the Parliament of the 10th Convocation, during a briefing held at the Georgian Dream office.

According to Papuashvili, based on data published by the Central Election Commission, Georgian Dream has secured 89 mandates.
"As in 2020, the Parliament of Georgia will convene, recognize its authority, and continue to function. The opposition, which entered the Parliament like puffs back then, will line up again and, sooner or later, will enter. Have the Georgian people seen this movie? The only outcome of their actions now will be increased unrest and more violence on their part.
The 2020 Parliament operated in conditions where the opposition was entirely absent during half of its sessions - initially due to sabotage and then boycotts. The Parliament of Georgia worked so effectively that today we are the number one country in terms of economic growth in Europe and are leading in all sectors. Thus, if they choose not to participate, it will create a better, calmer, and more business-friendly environment in the Parliament of Georgia, allowing us to focus on our work," Papuashvili stated.
Based on the Constitution of Georgia, the first session of the newly elected Parliament must be held no later than the 10th day after the official announcement of the election results. The President appoints the first session. The Parliament can commence its work at this first session if a majority of its full composition (76 deputies) is present. The Parliament acquires full powers once two-thirds of its members (100 deputies) are recognized. From that point onward, the authority of the previous convocation of Parliament ceases.
As per data from the Central Election Commission of Georgia (with 99.968% of precincts counted), Georgian Dream received 53.92% of the votes in the parliamentary elections. Four political parties passed the electoral threshold: Coalition for Change - 11.037%; Unity - National Movement - 10.164%; Strong Georgia - 8.814%; and Gakharia For Georgia - 7.771%. The opposition parties and the country's president do not recognize the legitimacy of the official election results. Salome Zourabichvili stated that the elections were entirely rigged and that a "Russian special operation" had been conducted. She called on Georgia's partners in Europe and the United States to support the population.
