"This is a response to the anti-European and anti-Western rhetoric and actions of this government. It is the answer to the fact that all their advice and warnings have gone unanswered: not even symbolically, for the one thing that costs nothing and means everything - withdrawing or freezing the Russian Law. Instead, all we hear is the government's insistence, through its mouthpieces, that 'nevertheless' we will join the European Union. Or they repeat that these exercises were conducted 'for the benefit of both countries'... (I wonder how America will survive now!!!)," the president wrote on Facebook.
As Salome Zourabichvili said, the "very difficult messages" received from two of Georgia's closest friends deserve attention.
"Indeed, this is a response to the reckless and hostile policy of the ruling party towards them, while also serving as a warning to the public: our partners are telling us that the choice is yours - between a European, secure future and an isolated Georgia that aligns with Russia's orbit.
We are being told that this law(s) are not friendly behaviors compatible with European or American support thus far!
This is for those who still stubbornly, without argument, echo the question dictated from above: 'Why is this law Russian?' Why? ... and that's why!!!" writes Salome Zourabichvili.
The Ambassador of the European Union, Pawel Herczynski, stated today that the European Union has suspended the payment of 30 million euros from the European Peace Fund for Georgia, and if the situation worsens, other measures will be considered.
The United States of America has also begun to reassess its relations with Georgia. As part of this review, on July 5, the Department of Defense indefinitely postponed the military exercise Noble Partner 2024 in Georgia. According to the Pentagon, "The decision to postpone this iteration of NOBLE PARTNER is due to the Georgian government's false accusations against the United States and other western entities, to pressure Georgia to open a second front against Russia to alleviate pressure on Ukraine, and of participating in two coup attempts against the ruling party."
