After Kobakhidze's briefing, citizens began gathering in front of the Parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue. At the same time, representatives of non-governmental organizations convened at the main office of Georgian Dream in Ortachala and issued an emergency statement. As per their assessment, Kobakhidze's statement signaled the final rejection of Georgia's European integration.
"This decision represents an unprecedented betrayal in Georgia's history, one that will cause irreparable harm to future generations and pose an extreme threat to the country's statehood," said Rati Amaglobeli, who delivered the joint statement on behalf of the non-governmental organizations.
The organizations called on the European Union to disregard the statement of the self-proclaimed government, which they claimed lacks the legitimacy of the Georgian people.
President Salome Zourabichvili met with representatives of diplomatic missions accredited in Georgia and opposition parties. Following these meetings, she held a briefing, declaring that she had brought an end to the "constitutional coup" that began several months ago.
"Today, I called the diplomatic corps and told them that their assessments have come a little too late. There is nothing left to prove - everything is confirmed, and everything is clear. I urged them to take all the necessary actions that have been delayed for so long.
I also asked for their support in our sole demand, which reflects the will of the people and society as a whole: to call and hold new elections. This is our solution and what we are fighting for," the president stated.
On November 28, the illegitimate Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, announced that the government would not prioritize opening negotiations with the European Union until the end of 2028. Additionally, he declared that the government would refuse any budgetary grants from the European Union during the same period.
