From 2012 to 2018, Shalva Tadumadze served as the Parliamentary Secretary of the Government, and in 2018, he became the Head of the Government Administration. Between 2018 and 2019, he held the position of Chief Prosecutor of Georgia.
Although the press release issued by the Ministry of Internal Affairs states that Tadumadze graduated from the Tbilisi Humanitarian Institute in 1998 with a qualification in law, the legitimacy of his higher education remains controversial. Research conducted by Transparency International - Georgia failed to confirm the authenticity of Shalva Tadumadze’s diploma.
As it stands, Vakhtang Gomelauri has five deputies: Shalva Bedoidze, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, Giorgi Butkhuzi, Ioseb Chelidze, and Shalva Tadumadze. Following the violent crackdown on protests that began on November 28, all of them have been subjected to sanctions by various countries. The United Kingdom imposed economic and visa sanctions on Vakhtang Gomelauri and Aleksandre Darakhvelidze for human rights violations.
Additionally, Gomelauri and his four deputies - Shalva Bedoidze, Ioseb Chelidze, Aleksandre Darakhvelidze, and Giorgi Butkhuzi - have been sanctioned by the Estonian and Lithuanian foreign ministries.
In response to the sanctions, Georgia’s illegitimate Prime Minister promoted Vakhtang Gomelauri to the position of Vice Prime Minister and announced plans to nominate senior officials of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Order of Honor. Furthermore, the government intends to compensate these officials from the state budget for the “financial losses” incurred as a result of the sanctions.
