During the discussion of the 2025 state budget in the illegitimate parliament, Georgian Dream member Sozar Subari addressed the issue of police salaries. According to Subari, the current salaries are insufficient to meet the challenges facing the country and should therefore be increased by 20% next year instead of the proposed 10%.

"It was truly a crime what we did for years when we simply failed to increase salaries in public services. It is very good that we are now addressing this issue. However,
The salaries of law enforcement officers and the military, despite two previous 20% increases, still fall short of an appropriate level for the tasks they perform. I will say this: if we lack stability in the country, economic growth will be out of reach. We risk falling behind in many areas and may face challenges in maintaining the state itself.
Therefore, in my opinion, this should be a priority. If we manage another 20% increase, the standard increment alongside other public services will suffice to ensure that their salaries remain within a range that provides a decent standard of living and reflects the value of their work," said Subari.
Sozar Subari believes that the budget will accommodate a 20% increase in police officers’ salaries. “This will require an additional 100 million GEL - or even 200 million GEL,” Subari noted.
Based on the draft state budget for 2025, funding for the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the security services will increase by over 330 million GEL.
The illegitimate Minister of Finance, Lasha Khutsishvili, stated that more than 3.35 billion GEL has been allocated for the Ministries of Defense and Internal Affairs and the security services, accounting for 10% of the total budget.
“Within the allocated funds, a 10% salary increase for police officers and soldiers will be implemented,” said Khutsishvili.
He added that the vision outlined in the budget fully addresses the challenges facing the country.
