The public movement People's Power, established two years ago by members of the parliamentary majority, has been converted into a political party. MP Sozar Subari was elected as the party's chairman at the founding congress.

Subari stated that today People's Power is embarking on a new stage of political struggle. He pledged that People's Power would certainly investigate the "unprecedented act of treason" committed by the United National Party during the August 2008 war.
"Only by prosecuting the agency can we finally overcome radicalism and the so-called polarization and create a long-term guarantee for the protection of Georgia's sovereignty. Until the oppositional National Movement and all its accomplices are brought to justice, achieving peace, stability, economic well-being, de-occupation, and pursuit of national interests in this country will become increasingly difficult.
We are commencing a new stage of political struggle today, and at this stage, one of our main tasks will be to hold the National Movement and its complicit foreign agency accountable for the crimes committed against our homeland and people," stated Sozar Subari.
"We preserve the past and seek the new," stated Dimitri Khundadze, one of the leaders of People's Power, describing this as the "main axis" of the political party.
"Progressive conservatism is not confined to the past; it is oriented towards development and the acceptance of new ideas, while preserving the values of the past. The policy of People's Power will always be grounded in truth and the interests of our country. We believe that we will receive significant support from the public on this path," stated Khundadze.
MP Mikheil Kavelashvili also addressed the People's Power convention. He stated that the main goals of People's Power would be "to empower the people with truth, to protect the peace and security of our homeland, and to strive for the prosperity of the country."
"To achieve these goals, it is necessary to unite people with national self-awareness, God-fearing and free people, so that in the upcoming elections of October 2024, there will be a convincing victory over the evil forces determined to subjugate and enslave our homeland through the salesman and treacherous collaborators here," said Kavelashvili.
People's Power was established in August 2022 by deputies who had ostensibly separated from the ruling Georgian Dream - Sozar Subari, Dimitri Khundadze, Mikheil Kavelashvili, and Guram Macharashvili. Later, Viktor Japaridze, Dachi Beraia, Eka Sefashvili, Davit Kacharava, and Zaal Mikeladze joined them. They, along with the Georgian Dream, are still part of the parliamentary majority. In early 2023, the draft law on Foreign Agents, authored by People's Power, was introduced in parliament and passed in the first reading by the parliamentary majority. The so-called Russian law, which aimed to discredit civil society, was rejected due to mass protests and international pressure.
