Demetri Revazashvili, a 31-year-old employee of the Department of Special Tasks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, was charged by the prosecutor's office for assaulting a fellow villager in the village of Aten, Gori municipality. The victim, Revaz Mikhanashvili, is in intensive care with critical injuries.

Demetri Revazashvili has been charged under Article 117, Part 1 of the Criminal Code, which pertains to intentional serious injury to health that is life-threatening. This crime carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 4 to 7 years, with or without the restriction of rights related to weapons.
According to the Prosecutor's Office, an investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Service established that on July 29, the inspector from the Special Tasks Department seriously injured the victim. Demetri Revazashvili was arrested on July 31, and the prosecution is requesting his imprisonment as a preventive measure.
Revaz Revazishvili, the accused's lawyer, stated that his client is exercising his right to remain silent but is willing to cooperate with the investigation. "We do not know the factual circumstances on which the presented charge is based. He has given testimony, but the factual circumstances he provided to the investigation do not indicate any signs of a crime. According to him, he was merely trying to help the person who is now in such a difficult situation and even provided first aid," the lawyer told reporters.
The victim, 51-year-old Revaz Mikhanashvili, is currently in the military hospital in Gori. A representative of the medical institution reported that he suffered a traumatic brain injury. "The patient's condition is critical, making it difficult to make any predictions. According to reports, he was seen falling in the yard. He was unconscious when brought to the hospital," the doctor said.
The Prosecutor's Office states that the investigation is ongoing to identify other individuals involved in the crime.
