When asked, "If parliamentary elections were held this week, whom would you vote for?", 56.2% of respondents named Georgian Dream.
According to Imedi, 10.7% would vote for the coalition Lelo – Strong Georgia, 10% for the party Gakharia – For Georgia, 9.5% for the Coalition for Change, and 7.5% for the United National Movement. Girchi received 3.2%, Alliance of Patriots of Georgia 1.8%, and other parties 1.1%.
"The fact is that among those who agreed to participate in the elections, Lelo and Gakharia have advanced from the collective National Movement. They are in second and third place," noted Irakli Chikhladze, a presenter for the pro-government channel, during the poll's presentation.
Respondents were also asked whether their city/municipality mayor deserved re-election. Imedi reported that in Tbilisi, 60% of respondents said yes, 37% said no, and 3% either didn't know or refused to answer.
GORBI conducted the public opinion survey across Tbilisi and the country from June 22 to July 5, conducting 2,300 face-to-face interviews with adult citizens.
Lelo - Strong Georgia has expressed distrust of the poll. Irakli Kupradze, the political association's Secretary General, stated that the purpose of publishing the results is to sow discord within the opposition and manipulate public sentiment.
"Ivanishvili's Russian regime has published another set of fake numbers concerning the parliamentary elections. While local elections are approaching chronologically and constitutionally, Ivanishvili and the Russian regime are avoiding discussions about local elections.
Reliable organizations, including the Institute of Social Research and Analysis, led by Iago Kachkachishvili, have conducted sociological surveys showing that the Russian regime would lose both parliamentary and local elections.
Surveys recently conducted show Ivanishvili has no chance of winning in the capital, and he is losing in Tbilisi even under boycott conditions," Kupradze said.
He stated that a survey conducted by Iago Kachkachishvili's organization in May showed different results from the GORBI poll.
“In May, Lelo – Strong Georgia received 25.8% in Tbilisi, Gakharia - For Georgia received 29.6% (allocated), Girchi 5.2%, and Georgian Dream only 31%.
This statistic once again indicates that Georgian Dream is a politically bankrupt party facing defeat, whose only chance is to publish falsehoods, manipulate citizens' sentiments, and thereby create artificial confrontations in the opposition field," Irakli Kupradze declared.
Lelo – Strong Georgia, along with former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia's party, plans to participate in the local elections. Other pro-Western parties, including Ana Dolidze's party (which was part of the Lelo coalition during the 2024 parliamentary elections), are boycotting the October 4 vote.
"What Bidzina Ivanishvili fears most is a fight on all fronts, including local elections. We are confident that new parliamentary elections are inevitable, as indicated by all the propaganda strategies Ivanishvili is leading. We have hope in our team and, to a very significant extent, in our opposition society. We will defeat Ivanishvili on his playing field! Kupradze stated.
