The Special Investigation Service arrested two individuals for assaulting the journalist and cameraman of the Mtavari Arkhi. Lado Menabde and Manuchar Khavanadze were conducting a report in Supsa village, Lanchkhuti municipality, yesterday, July 25, when they were attacked by unidentified assailants.

According to the Special Investigation Service, the investigation revealed that the TV company employees were verbally and physically assaulted by two brothers residing in Supsa.
"The accused, V.I., verbally and physically insulted them. Meanwhile, V.I.'s brother, A.I., physically assaulted the journalist, punching him multiple times in the head and face. As a result, Vladimir Menabde experienced physical pain and sustained an injury to his lip. A.I. also damaged the video camera belonging to the TV company Mtavari Arkhi and verbally abused the journalist and cameraman," stated the Special Investigation Service.
The brothers are being held under Article 156, Part 2, Sub-paragraph a of the Criminal Code, which addresses the persecution of a person in connection with their professional activities, involving violence or threats of violence. This crime is punishable by a fine, house arrest for one to two years, or imprisonment for up to three years.
After being questioned by the Special Investigation Service, Lado Menabde expressed concern that his knee injury might worsen, noting that "we are dealing with violence and also with damage to other people's property."
