"Finita la comedia" (The game is over) - this is the phrase with which Konstantin Zatulin, a deputy of the Russian Duma and Deputy Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, responded to the appointment of Mikheil Kavelashvili as President of Georgia by Georgian Dream.

According to Zatulin, Mikheil Kavelashvili has assumed his position, Salome Zourabichvili has been forced to vacate the official residence of the president, and the opposition's final and decisive battle has been crushed.
“Of course, it was not without words. Salome ‘takes legitimacy with her.’ Perhaps she intends to keep it in a chest along with her old dresses. Despite all efforts from the outside, the ‘Freedom on the Barricades’ draw failed. Most likely, the money for construction materials was stolen.
Russia should not expect a complete turnaround from Georgia. This is unrealistic. According to Prime Minister Kobakhidze, the new president’s task is to ‘bring Georgia into the European Union’ by 2030. We’ll see.
But it is important to note that Georgia’s pragmatic leadership, unlike Zelensky, did not want to become a tool in foreign hands and risk Georgia again in the fight against Russia.
It is clear to me that Russia’s recognition of Abkhazia and South Ossetia is a barrier that emotional Georgian politicians find difficult to overcome, but this is a given we must live with, finding opportunities for cooperation despite everything,” Zatulin stated.
On December 29, the Georgian Parliament inaugurated Mikheil Kavelashvili, who was elected president by the Georgian Dream electoral college. No foreign diplomats were invited to the ceremony.
Opposition parties, Georgia’s fifth president, Salome Zourabichvili, and tens of thousands of participants in pro-European rallies do not recognize Mikheil Kavelashvili as a legitimate president.
To date, Kavelashvili has received congratulatory messages on his election as president from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
