More than 220 people have been arrested over the past four days during protests on Rustaveli Avenue in Tbilisi. Three individuals are charged with assaulting police officers in the line of duty and causing damage by setting fire to property. One of those charged is 17 years old.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the investigation revealed that on November 29 of this year, during a rally on Rustaveli Avenue, G.M., born in 2007, injured an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs by throwing pyrotechnics, causing injuries to various parts of the officer's body. On the same day, M.G., born in 2003, who has a history of multiple convictions, threw an incendiary object into the building of the legislative body, resulting in a fire breaking out in one of the rooms of the parliament building.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that the third defendant, A.M., born in 1997, who has been convicted in the past for theft, attempted theft, and illegal possession of narcotics, is currently serving a suspended sentence. He is accused of setting fire to the electrical wires and power supply of the video surveillance cameras registered to the 112 emergency number, which were installed on a pole at the Parliament building on November 29.
Damage to property by setting fire is punishable by 3 to 6 years in prison, and assaulting a police officer is punishable by 4 to 7 years in prison.
“A total of 113 employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were injured during the recent protests, 4 of whom remain in medical institutions. The Ministry of Internal Affairs is continuing its investigation to identify and detain all those responsible for the crimes,” said Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze.
As for those detained under administrative law, the police have arrested a total of 224 people for petty hooliganism and resisting or disobeying the police.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, administrative case materials for 98 individuals were submitted to the Tbilisi City Court, with proceedings completed for 74 of them. Of the 74 completed cases, 36 individuals were fined, 34 were sentenced to administrative imprisonment, and 4 were given a warning.
