Armed Group Ransacks Central Office of National Movement

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Late at night, the central office of the oppositional United National Movement, located on the Kakheti Highway in Tbilisi, was raided. As the party chairman, Levan Khabeishvili says, he was in the building with his 14-year-old son and employees at the time of the attack by masked men.

"Titushkas, armed with up to a hundred men, attacked the central office. They threw wooden spears and smashed everything. The police arrived an hour later. This was a special operation planned together with the police and SSS. The police watched everything; all cars can be identified," said Levan Khabeishvili.

As a result of the raid, the facade and inventory of the office were damaged, and the windows were broken.

"They are trying to get inside, and if it weren't for the resistance put up by the boys, they probably would have torn everything inside as well. They carried out attacks yesterday, which is why we had a lot of people in the central office at night. These people were probably planning to attack our employees," Khabeishvili noted.

One day before the attack on the office of the National Movement, the campaign of hatred and intimidation against those who actively oppose the adoption of the Russian Law on so-called Foreign Agents was reactivated. On May 31, in the early hours of the morning, unknown persons made insulting and threatening inscriptions on the walls of houses and offices of opposition parties’ representatives, non-governmental organizations, and media organizations. Later, Dimitri Samkharadze, a parliament member from Georgian Dream and a member of the ruling party's political council, admitted that he organized these actions.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Special Investigation Service did not respond to any of these incidents.
