A group of students from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU) is protesting against the falsification of parliamentary elections. They are spending the night inside the university building, stating that they will not back down and calling on other students to join the protest.

On November 14, BSU students founded the youth movement “Gushagi” [Watch]. As one of its members, Mate Centeradze, stated, the major historical events in the city have always started at Batumi State University.
"I want to appeal to all the students who are not standing with us today to join us in the future in this great struggle that we are starting today from the university and will continue on the streets of the city. We will be everywhere the fate of Georgia is decided. From today, we will be the guardians of our country, the guardians of our votes, the guardians of our freedom, the guardians of our European future, and we will not stop until we achieve our common goal," said Mate Centeradze during a briefing held in the university lobby.
The group of students is also protesting the university administration's involvement in the pre-election campaign of Georgian Dream and its "open participation" in rigging the elections.
The student movements of the Georgian Institute Of Public Affairs (JIPA) and Ilia State University (Iliauni) have expressed their solidarity with the students of Batumi.
