Davit Katsarava's Drone Shot Down at Russian Military Base in Occupied Gali

The Russian law of the Georgian Dream party threatens independent media and civil society organizations and hinders Georgia from joining the European Union.

Russian law establishes Putin's rules in Georgia, which has eliminated free speech in Russia.

When you are oppressed, there will be no one to cover your problem and stand by you.

Georgian News will resist the Russian intention of the Georgian Dream to the end!

The de facto State Security Service of occupied Abkhazia announced that a Mavic 3 unmanned aerial vehicle was shot down in the Gali region while filming the surroundings of the village of Bgoura (also known as Meore Otobaia) and nearby military facilities.

"As per operational data, it has been established that the device in question belonged to Davit Katsarava, a well-known Georgian activist and leader of the Anti-Occupation Movement,” stated the de facto State Security Service in a statement released on October 17.

Davit Katsarava confirmed that the drone was his and that it had been shot down at an "enemy base." On October 16, Katsarava shared the last image captured by the drone on Facebook, showing buildings at the military base.

"Today, during our regular patrol, the orcs managed to shoot down our Mavic 3 drone. The drone is an essential tool for our patrols, significantly increasing their efficiency and effectiveness along the occupation line," Katsarava wrote. He also asked his supporters to help him purchase a new drone.

The de facto government plans to raise this issue during international negotiations in Geneva on November 5-6. According to the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the incident is considered an "obvious provocation."

"Such actions are aimed at escalating tensions in the border area. Despite regular statements from Georgia’s top leadership expressing their desire to resolve all disputes with the Republic of Abkhazia peacefully, in practice, Georgia continues to escalate the situation along the Abkhazia-Georgia border, posing serious threats to security and stability in the region," the so-called Ministry's statement said.

The State Security Service of Georgia has not responded to the incident.
