"This was not an ordinary or routine forgery. This is an international crime committed by Russia on Georgian territory. The matter is under investigation, as an international crime has been committed by Russia in Georgia. We appeal to the European Parliament and the European Union, which has precedents for such actions, to send an investigative mission here to set an international precedent for this investigation," Dolidze told journalists.
As she said, Strong Georgia is not considering entering the parliament.
The foreign ministers of several EU countries, as well as the United Kingdom's Minister of State for U.S. and European Affairs, are calling on Georgian authorities to investigate the violations revealed during the elections.
"We call on the Central Election Commission of Georgia and other relevant authorities to fulfil their duty to swiftly, transparently and independently investigate and adjudicate electoral irregularities and allegations thereof.
Those irregularities must be clarified and addressed. That is a necessary step to re-building trust in the electoral process," read the joint statement by the High Representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, and the European Commission.
The United States has also joined the demand for a thorough investigation of all reported violations.
As per CEC data, Georgian Dream received 53.92% of the votes in the election. However, the opposition parties and the country's president do not recognize the legitimacy of the results. Salome Zourabichvili stated that the elections were entirely rigged and that a "Russian special operation" took place.
