"In four days you will have the opportunity to go and choose your next government. Elections are a celebration of democracy, a day when each of you can decide the future of you and your children. Please go, please vote and please elect a government that represents your wishes, your aspirations," said the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski.

The diplomat touched on the Georgia Votes for European Union event held on Sunday, noting that he saw so many European Union flags in the streets of Tbilisi.
"It was a day of pride and happiness for the EU ambassador. I saw a lot of people, a lot of young people. Young people, your children - they deserve a better future, they deserve to have opportunities here in Georgia, they don't have to look for a better life somewhere else. They should have the opportunity to stay, live and work in their beautiful Georgia," said Herczynski.
According to him, the relationship between Georgia and the European Union is at a historical low, and the process of Georgia's European integration has been halted as a result of actions taken by the Georgian government.
"For me, as for the Ambassador of the European Union, it is very heartbreaking and sad to see that other countries are moving forward in terms of integration into the European Union, and Georgia, instead of getting closer, is moving away from the European Union. Look what happened in Moldova. People voted in the referendum on EU membership, but every vote counts. Turnout was very low so get out and vote, vote for your future and your children's future. The European Union is a huge success story, it is a peace project, it is a guarantee of development, it is a guarantee of a decent life, not the life of a few rich people. This is not a luxury limousine for a rich few, this is a decent life for everyone. But it is in your hands. The European Union announced loud and clear that last December we made a decision to open the door for Georgia, we are waiting for you, but you have to go through this door, no one can do it for you. This is your choice," said Pawel Herczynski.
Parliamentary elections will be held on Saturday, October 26. Voters will elect 150 deputies of the Parliament of Georgia for a four-year term based on a proportional election system. To gain entry into parliament, a political union must overcome the 5% threshold.
