On October 3, NATO's new Secretary General, Mark Rutte, visited Kyiv and informed President Volodymyr Zelensky during a briefing that Ukraine is closer to NATO than ever. Rutte said that this rapprochement will continue until the country becomes a member of the alliance.

Please do not fall victim to this Russophobia. If we speak positively about the Red Army or the former Soviet Union, don’t immediately label us as Putin's agents," Fico told local media.
He also mentioned that he plans to visit Moscow next year to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Robert Fico criticized the sanctions imposed on Russia following its invasion of Ukraine and the provision of military aid to Ukraine. His current mandate as Prime Minister ends in 2027.
