The Russian Federal Tax Service has seized the accounts of former UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov from Dagestan. Based on media reports, the reason for this action is a debt to the state amounting to approximately 300 million rubles.

On June 30, Nurmagomedov was in the German city of Cologne, where he attended the Georgia-Spain match together with former Portuguese football player Luis Figo. He also met with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, and Tsotne Ivanishvili, the son of Bidzina Ivanishvili, the founder of Georgian Dream.
"The basis of Khabib Nurmagomedov's debt was the non-payment of taxes, penalties, and fines," the Federal Tax Service of Russia said.
Nurmagomedov is accused of non-payment of taxes on income received from abroad between 2019 and 2021. The athlete himself has not yet commented on this information.
At the end of June, Russian security agencies entered the martial arts school founded by Khabib Nurmagomedov's father in Makhachkala. It was discovered that MMA fighter Gadzhimurad Kagirov, one of the individuals who organized the attacks in Derbent and Makhachkala on June 23, had trained there. Through his manager, Nurmagomedov announced that Kagirov was not a student at the school and had only been sparring there for about a month.
Thirty-five-year-old Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most famous UFC fighters. He ended his career at the end of 2020 with the status of absolute champion. In 2021, Russian Forbes estimated his annual income at 12 million dollars.
