"The Embassy of Georgia in Israel has confirmed the death of a Georgian citizen as a result of the terrorist attack on October 1. The embassy is coordinating with the relevant Israeli authorities regarding the repatriation of the deceased to Georgia, which will naturally require some time due to the circumstances of his death," stated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs extends its condolences to the family of the deceased, as well as to the government and people of Israel.
"Georgia condemns any form of terrorism," the statement read.
According to Israeli police, the shooting began inside a railway carriage and continued on the platform. In addition to the fatalities, there are several wounded, three of whom are in serious condition.
The police reported that both attackers were "neutralized" by bystanders, with terrorism identified as the motive for the attack.
Media reports indicate that the shooting in Jaffa occurred shortly before an Iranian missile attack against Israel.
