Georgian Dream denies that representatives of the ruling team and people close to them are confiscating identity cards from voters ahead of the parliamentary elections. MP Givi Mikanadze spoke about this topic at a briefing held at the party office and urged international observers not to take into account the "false information" spread by the opposition.

"As the elections approach, the disinformation campaign by the opposition and their supporting media and non-governmental organizations is intensifying. We want to draw attention to the circulation of lies in recent days that identity cards are allegedly being confiscated from voters in favor of the Georgian Dream. Such a campaign of lies is typical of radicals... False information is being spread without facts and evidence to deliberately discredit the ruling team," said a member of Georgian Dream.
Givi Mikanadze responded to the information spread by one of the leaders of the United National Movement, Tamar Kordzaia, according to which, in Tsnori, at an elderly shelter, 31 people - the elderly and employees of the institution, had their identity cards confiscated and taken to the Georgian Dream office.
"On October 17, Tamar Kordzaia stated at a briefing that allegedly, in Tsnori, representatives of Georgian Dream confiscated the identity cards of 22 elderly people and 9 employees at an elderly shelter in Tsnori and took them to the office. The fact that this information is a lie is evidenced by Kordzaia's own statement, according to which, I quote: "We know the names and surnames of the perpetrators of this crime, but we will not name them today on purpose." In reality, there was no confiscation of identity cards and this is a blatant lie," Mikanadze said.
He also touched upon the story of the Mtavari Arkhi TV channel, where employees of the Rustavi cleaning service confirm that they are handing over their identity cards to representatives of Georgian Dream. The journalist introduced himself to the janitors and the head of one of the cleaning service groups as an employee of the ruling party.
"On October 17, Mtavari Arkhi aired a story in which they tried to manipulate the employees of the Rustavi cleaning service. The falsehood voiced in the story is an attempt to escalate the situation in Rustavi before the elections," Mikanadze accused the opposition televisions of "putting pressure on voters."
Georgian Dream calls on international observation organizations "not to take into account false information regarding identity cards and to assess in their reports both the opposition's circulation of lies and the positioning of local organizations in terms of supporting them."
