"There are nine days left before the election, and the Georgian Dream knows that it will lose. Unable to adapt to this loss, it has decided to fully engage the government machine to intimidate or bribe the citizens of Georgia."
In a shelter for the elderly in Tsnori, 31 people had their passports confiscated and taken to the Georgian Dream office. Such a shameful act is unthinkable, even from a government as criminal as the Georgian Dream. ID cards and passports were confiscated from 22 elderly individuals and 9 employees and taken to the Georgian Dream office.
We know the names of each of these citizens and the perpetrators of these crimes, which we will not disclose today.
We appeal to the personal data protection inspector to immediately initiate an investigation into this issue because, after the elections, we will also demand answers regarding what actions were taken to protect the rights of Georgian citizens," said Kordzaia at today's briefing.
Tamar Kordzaia urged those asked to hand over their ID cards not to be afraid. According to her, Unity - National Movement is ready to protect each of them. "We will work to ensure that European structures sanction those who intervene in the elections on behalf of Georgian Dream. With nine days left before the elections, victory is on our side," said Kordzaia.
Recently, the leaders of Unity - National Movement have repeatedly stated that before the parliamentary debates, representatives of Georgian Dream or individuals associated with them are taking or planning to confiscate ID cards from opposition citizens. Additionally, it is known that employees in public services and budgetary organizations are being asked for the personal numbers of their family members. Members of Georgian Dream deny these reports. The coalition of monitoring organizations My Vote has stated that there are signs of criminal activity, which relevant state agencies should investigate.
