Forest fires are raging in Greece, and due to strong winds, the flames are spreading rapidly, approaching Athens. More than ten villages and towns have been evacuated.

The fire broke out in Varnava, about 30 kilometres from the capital, on Sunday afternoon.
"Since yesterday afternoon, the residents of northeastern Attica have been facing an extremely dangerous wildfire that we have been battling for over 20 hours under dramatic conditions. These challenges are due to the strong winds, prolonged drought, and the very difficult and rugged terrain of dense, unburnt forest," said the Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Vasilis Kikilias.
Based on official information, more than 670 firefighters, 183 fire engines, and 32 firefighting planes and helicopters are involved in the effort.
The Embassy of Georgia in Greece urges Georgian citizens to follow the instructions issued by the relevant Greek agencies, including any evacuation orders if announced. The embassy also notes that they have not received "any messages from Georgian citizens" via the hotline (+306952220000).
