"If a person was involved in giving and receiving money to facilitate illegal crossings of this artificial administrative occupation border, then, unfortunately, he also played a role in his arrest.
However, he should answer not to the proxy government of Abkhazia and/or the Russian occupation forces, but should be immediately handed over to Georgia, to the legitimate government of Georgia, which, I believe, will clarify the issue. I would defend the presumption of innocence and would not accuse this person because, for me, the press service of the Russian occupation army or even the current puppet regime of Abkhazia cannot be considered an authentic source," Odisharia said.
On August 17, the so-called State Security Service of occupied Abkhazia arrested two Georgian citizens in the village of Bgoura, Gali district. Remiko and Murtaz Tchitanavas, born in 1964 and 1967, are accused of assisting in the so-called illegal crossing of the border.
The de facto government announced the arrests on August 20. They claim that Tchitanavas "used a geographically favorable place of residence, which directly borders the territory of Georgia, and provided assistance in the illegal crossing of the state border."
"During the inspection of the detainees' residences, an F1 hand grenade, an RGD-5 hand grenade, 1600 grams of TNT, 45 grams of plastid, a block of TNT, cartridges of various calibers, and a stack of dollar bills were found," the so-called State Security Service reported. It is worth noting that several dozen one-dollar bills can be seen in the published video.
The State Security Service of Georgia confirmed the illegal detention of two Georgian citizens today, August 21. It was revealed that the so-called court sentenced Chichtabdi to two months of "pretrial detention," and they are currently being held in the so-called "Abkhazia State Security Service Isolator."
The President of Georgia, Salome Zourabichvili, called MP Beka Odisharia's statement "shameful." "In general, you don't seem to understand the presumption of innocence, and even worse, you accept the accusations of the so-called law enforcement officers without question... This appears to be the 'dream' of settling future relations with the occupiers, for which it turns out they need a constitutional majority!" Zourabichvili wrote on social media.
