"This is a very important initiative. The relevant bill will be initiated by the Government of Georgia in the near future," - Kobakhidze said during his speech at the event related to the tenth anniversary of the Agency for Innovations and Technologies.
“In order to maximize the global competitiveness of the Georgian economy and make the most of its scientific potential, the country has identified three main technological directions. In response to this new reality, a special scientific group will be created to work on implementing artificial intelligence in education, healthcare, agriculture, and other areas.
The next key direction is phages. As you know, Georgia is a pioneer in these technologies, with almost a century of experience in phage research. Today, with the global demand for phages increasing, Georgia can offer the world important technological products in this field. While most are currently in use, the agency aims to create new scientific and technological products to help Georgian farmers increase their productivity and competitiveness," said Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister highlighted that over the past decade, grant programs have funded innovative startups with global potential, amounting to approximately 38 million GEL. Beneficiaries have received financial benefits totaling half a billion GEL, leading to the creation of 3,000 new jobs.
