"My administration is dedicated to strengthening peaceful and productive relations with the government of Georgia. Looking ahead, I anticipate deepening economic ties between our countries by supporting fair trade and expanding areas of bilateral cooperation.
I sincerely congratulate the Georgian people on this significant date, which reflects the country's distinguished and diverse history," states the congratulatory letter, which Kavelashvili's press service disseminated in Georgian.
On May 26, Georgia celebrated the 107th anniversary of the declaration of its First Democratic Republic and the 34th anniversary of the restoration of its independence.
US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, also congratulated Georgia via a letter addressed to the Georgian people:
“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend my greetings to the people of Georgia on this national day. For over thirty years, the friendship and partnership between our nations has been built on shared values of democracy, sovereignty, and the pursuit of a better future. On this day, we celebrate the strength and resilience of the Georgian people and our enduring bonds. The Georgian people’s love of and commitment to freedom and independence is inspiring. The United States remains committed to a partnership in line with Georgia’s aspirations for a secure and prosperous future”.
"It is clear that the Deep State had precedence along the line of the State Department, and the acts we received are connected to this. The Deep State is dominating, and we see this. If the Deep State is to determine the US congratulations, this holds no value for us. This is a system entirely embedded in bureaucracy. A struggle is underway," said Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister of Georgian Dream, yesterday, reacting to Rubio's congratulations.
