As per information from the Georgian side, Kobakhidze and Aliyev discussed topics to be addressed at the conference, as well as the strategic partnership between the two countries. They highlighted successful cooperation across various sectors and emphasized the importance of joint regional projects for the development of both nations and the region. The government administration reported that the meeting also touched on regional security challenges, with both leaders affirming their commitment to promoting peace and stability as much as possible. Additionally, Irakli Kobakhidze extended an invitation to Ilham Aliyev for an official visit to Georgia.
Irakli Kobakhidze will participate in the 29th UN Climate Change Conference (COP29) from November 11 to 13, where he is scheduled to deliver a speech at the COP29 leaders' summit and join panel discussions. The Georgian delegation includes First Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilia Darchiashvili, and Head of the Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
COP29 will also see participation from representatives of the Afghan Taliban, drawing attention. According to Politico, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, and Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman are expected to attend. Additionally, the Senior Adviser on International Climate Policy to the US President, John Podesta, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Polish President Andrzej Duda, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, European Council President Charles Michel, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and others will be present. However, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, French President Emmanuel Macron, and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will not attend the conference.
