The attack occurred while the TV Pirveli camera crew was filming masked individuals beating citizens.
“We had information that the titushky were attacking the protesters here, preventing them from reaching the rally. Whether we arrived or not, there was a hand-to-hand fight, and, of course, we started filming. Several people, probably more than 30 in total, appeared - they were wearing black masks, making it impossible to identify them. They attacked me, turned me around, hit me, and said, ‘You b*tch, what are you doing?’” said Maka Chikhladze. She also noted that a patrol police crew was parked near the location of the attack.
“The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Prime Minister bear full responsibility for this crime,” said Nodar Meladze, head of the TV company’s information service.
According to Meladze, he was informed that the masked attackers were special forces disguised in civilian clothing.
Maka Chikhladze and Giorgi Shetsiruli were taken to Ingorokva Clinic by ambulance.
More than an hour after the live attack, the police had not yet arrived at the crime scene.
According to Pirveli, the masked attackers stole equipment belonging to the TV company.
