‘‘Based on the information verified by the relevant services, we want to clarify that Ganna Ilyasova, a citizen of Ukraine, who goes by Anna Lakoba, entered and left Georgia in 2018. The above-mentioned citizen used Ukrainian passport for crossing the border. Since 2018, nobody with these personal details has crossed the state border of Georgia. Based on her travel document at the time of crossing, the law of Georgia On Occupied Territories has not been violated’’ says MIA statement.
TV companies Formula and Mtavari Arkhi reported on October 26 that Anna Lakoba, a member of the Russian army, is in Georgia. The Russian soldier posted photos from various parts of Tbilisi on her social media accounts. Her TikTok also features videos shot in Russian-occupied Donetsk. Vano Nadiradze, a Georgian fighting for Ukraine, told TV stations that Anna Lakoba is currently in Batumi and it is unclear why she was allowed to cross the border, as she has violated the Law on Occupation.
Anna Lakoba published the photos taken in Tbilisi on TikTok two days ago.
‘‘You can’t be judging who is where based on Facebook and TikTok posts alone’’ is how the Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri responded to yesterday’s question of journalists regarding the possible presence of a Russian soldier in Georgia.
‘‘First time I’m hearing this lady’s name. I am not aware if she had violated [Law on Occupation], whether it is stamped in her passport, they get fined or are not allowed in the country for that, as the law provides.
A police officer wouldn’t know who is a member of the Russian army and who isn’t, would he? I’ve commented on this a thousand times. You can’t be judging who is where and what they do based on Facebook and TikTok posts alone. If she violated the law, she will be fined’’, stated Gomelauri.
