The Movement for the People, Freedom - Zviad Gamsakhurdia's Way, For Justice, Green Movement, European Democrats, Law and Justice, State for the People, National-Democratic Party, and Progress and Freedom will continue the signing process until the end of the day.
"Today, the most important national task and goal, crucial for our country's survival, is its European future. This document encompasses vital reforms and steps, the successful negotiation of which with the European Union could lead to Georgia's progress. This is why we deemed it necessary to sign this document.
We join him and promise that, after the victory, the coalition, a multi-party government, will take all the necessary steps for Georgia to join the European Union in an accelerated manner," said Tinatin Bokuchava, a member of the National Movement and MP.
The members of the opposition parties emphasize that signing the Georgian Charter means uniting around the idea and not forming a single electoral list.
"This charter is practically the consent of the people and political parties to confront the Russian regime together. This is unity, not a political union," said Mamuka Khazaradze, chairman of Lelo.
Elene Khoshtaria, the leader of Droa, emphasizes that the Georgian Charter is a very important document that provides society with "political clarity about whom and what they have a choice between."
"On one hand, there is Russia, and on the other hand, there is the coalition political group burdened by obligations. This will allow us: first, to restore fair elections; second, to move the European agenda out of the impasse created by the Georgian Dream; third, to implement reforms that will end the Soviet legacy in our country, which has kept us going in circles for decades; and fourth, to demonstrate unity.
People should know that despite their differences, political parties have minimal capacity for coalition work and agreement around people's interests.
We attach great importance to this document, sign it without reservations, and undertake to fulfill it meticulously," said Khoshtaria.
The parliamentary opposition parties Girchi and Gakharia - for Georgia are not going to sign the Georgian Charter.
Due to the change in Georgia's foreign policy and the situation in the country, the President of Georgia presented a unified action plan on May 26, Independence Day. The document envisages the formation of a temporary government after the October parliamentary elections, the implementation of reforms, and subsequently, the holding of early parliamentary elections. According to Salome Zourabichvili, the steps mentioned in the Georgian Charter are necessary not only for the European integration of Georgia but also for the establishment of a democratic and fair state.
