The People Power declares, "If until now the new ambassador more or less attempted political maneuvers and avoided topics directly impacting the sovereignty and independence of our country, this time they have also crossed this red line." They assess the policy of the current US administration towards Georgia as "inadequate, rooted in oppression and insults."
People's Power also responded to a portion of the American ambassador's interview concerning US aid. As asserted by allies of the ruling party, the "persistent request" for 6 billion dollars in aid is deemed "an illusion and a mockery of the Georgian people."
"Firstly, the American aid received in Georgia, as we have calculated, amounts not to 6 billion but approximately 4 billion dollars over 30 years. Secondly, unfortunately, a significant portion of this sum has been spent in Georgia at the hands of your own favored party, the National Movement - first to bring them into power and subsequently to support them continuously," reads the anti-Western statement of People's Power.
“The vicissitudes of the August 2008 war, when, following the occupation of 20 percent of our homeland, significant American "financial aid" was indeed spent in the country, warrant a separate conversation and investigation. However, prior to the country's need for this assistance, your beloved party did everything to lead Georgia into this extremely challenging situation...
We have serious doubts regarding your role and responsibilities in these processes because today, even young children in Georgia understand that Saakashvili and his agency gang undertook the most difficult tasks against Georgia to provoke the occupation. It was after these August events that Russia was labeled an "occupier" and the USA - a strategic partner, which in subsequent years, more or less successfully exploited for propaganda and manipulation of public opinion.
Regarding the aid provided after the August war, a significant portion of the aid from the USA to Georgia, I can simply tell you - there simply was no other alternative solution.”
At the beginning of the year, People's Power declared that the Russian-Georgian war "requires a thorough investigation" and vowed to fully investigate the "crimes committed by the Saakashvili regime in 2008" after the elections, promising to punish the perpetrators "to the fullest extent of the law." Following the parliamentary elections, the honorary chairman of Georgian Dream pledged to hold the National Movement accountable on April 29 while addressing supporters. Bidzina Ivanishvili believes that in 2008, Georgia was manipulated into conflict with Russia by the Global War Party, which "exerts decisive influence over both NATO and the European Union, viewing Georgia and Ukraine as mere pawns."
